Vinyl Saturday Record Fair
Clocktower Records Ltd. first opened in 2014, evolving from a Bridport Street Market market stall in 2005 and the creation of Vinyl Saturday Record Fair in 2007. As a result, the record fair was subject of a number of editorials and voted Record Fair of the Year by a National magazine as being part of the earliest adapters and rebranding records as Vinyl.
Whilst the Vinyl Saturday fair is now run by others its still a great day out checking out the fair and searching the street market and charity shops for records, cds, cassettes and music memorabilia alongside your visit to the 2 Clocktower Shops. Therefore Bridport is regarded as a great place to grab bargains on second hand vinyl records.
Fun of Browsing our Shops for Second Hand Vinyl Records
We created the major shop in St Michaels Art & Vintage Quarter to revive the lost fun of physically browsing records of all genres. Our prime objective was for customers to stumble upon records they had not seen before or had forgotten. Our fun logo reflects the excitement of being one of the most entertaining record shops in the Galaxy.
We achieved this by not selling records online. Instead, making the shop a destination where customers can personally check the condition of rare vinyl records. Our approach has attracted many vinyl sellers, resulting in high stock turnover. We recognise what our customers look for and we ensure the excellent condition of both record and sleeve. This combined with offering competitive pricing compared to the internet and other record shops, we keep our customers returning.
Recently, we have become part of RSD, the international Record Store Day for independent record shops. This helps bring record buyers back into record shops. This is very much in-line with our original idea in 2014, when everyone believed the only way forward was buying and selling records online, without the personal connection of face-to-face interaction.
Supporting Local Musicians
Clocktower is committed to supporting local musicians and promoting the town as a vinyl lovers’ destination. In doing so, we actively support the local community and promote visitors to the small retail businesses around Bridport that nurture the local economy.
By following these ideals, we have become a community business that nurtures creative relationships and participate in local initiatives, such as Cupboard Love and 2020 Skate and Ride. We also participate in Totally Locally Bridport, Bridport Business, and other local organizations to support the community.
Current Day
Current day there are now two shops. (Clocktower Too part of the iconic Electric Palace Theatre in South St and the original Clocktower Records in St Michaels ) where there are numerous live events occurring throughout the year.
We host many of these events within our shop location which has proven very popular. The musicians are chosen carefully for these events from a mix of music genres.
