Clocktower provide expert advice on Charity Sale of Unique Ithaca Record
Clocktower Records assists with charity auction of rare Ithaca first press vinyl
Every so often, the world of vinyl throws up a story that reminds us why we love it—not just for the music, but for the magic of discovery. This week, that magic unfolded right here in the South West.
A remarkably rare copy of A Game For All Who Know, the 1972 LP by psychedelic folk-rock band Ithaca, has just sold for an astonishing £5,059.68 in a fiercely contested eBay auction run by Clocktower Records.
Only 99 copies of the album were ever pressed, making it one of those near-mythical titles collectors whisper about. When a volunteer at the Seaton charity shop spotted it among donated items, they knew it was something special—and asked us to authenticate and handle the sale on their behalf.
The record had been valued at around £2,000, but as the final minutes of the week‑long auction ticked down, more than 100 watchers witnessed a dramatic bidding surge. In the last moments alone, the price leapt by over £3,000 as collectors battled to secure what many consider a “holy grail” of British private‑press psychedelia.
Clocktower Records owner Roy Gregory said:
“I’m thrilled we were able to help a wonderful local charity and continue our commitment to supporting our community.”
The winning bidder has chosen to remain anonymous, but their purchase will make a meaningful difference. All proceeds are going to the Seaton and District Hospital League of Friends, whose work includes funding specialist palliative care nurses and the Seaton Hospice at Home service.
The charity expressed heartfelt thanks to everyone involved, including volunteer Mark Ollier, whose sharp eye ensured the record didn’t slip through unnoticed.
They added:
“As a charity, we rely entirely on the generosity and goodwill of our local community. Support like this helps us continue providing essential care to those who need it most.”

A rare record, a bidding frenzy, and a fantastic result for a local cause—stories like this are why we love what we do.
